Azure-winged Magpies have a very disjunct distribution. Their main population is widely spread through eastern Asia but a small, very isolated population also occurs in Spain and Portugal.
They are very sociable and are always found in small groups. In Spain, they are generally quite shy and are most commonly seen in flying between isolated groups of trees. One exception to this general rule are the group that lives near the campsite at Monfrague. Here they will readily come down to bread and if you sit still they will approach to within a couple of metres of you.
